The US Coast Guard seeks comment regarding criteria for granting medical waivers to merchant mariners with a history of seizure disorders. Current regulations provide that convulsive disorders (e.g., seizure disorders) are conditions that may lead to disqualification for a merchant mariner credential, but the policy for granting waivers is not well defined. The Coast Guard is attempting to establish reasonably clear criteria under which applications for waiver may be considered. Comments should be submitted by 24 April. 78 Fed. Reg. 17917 (March 25, 2013).
