The US Coast Guard issued an interim rule amending its regulations for certain lifesaving equipment, including launching appliances, release mechanisms, survival craft, rescue boats, and automatic disengaging devices. These amendments are intended to harmonize Coast Guard design, construction, and performance standards for this lifesaving equipment with international standards. The amendments come into effect on November 10.
