The Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Vessel General Permit (VGP) requires the vessel owner/operator to submit a one-time report for each vessel subject to the VGP between 30 and 36 months after obtaining permit coverage.  If your vessel was covered by the VGP upon its start date of
December 18, 2008, then the period of time to submit the one-time report is from June 18, 2011 to December 18, 2011.  All owner/operators with vessels covered by the VGP are required to submit one time reports regardless of whether or not a Notices of Intent (NOI) was required to be
submitted for the vessel.

All commercial passenger vessels of 79 feet or more in length have been subject to the provisions of the VGP since December 18, 2008.  In addition, the VGP applies to any passenger vessel, regardless of length, if it discharges ballast water.  The VGP covers 26 different types of discharges.
